IT’S A KNOCKOUT!

Matthew 12:24-25 And hearing, the Pharisees said, “This fellow cannot cast out evil spirits unless in the presence of Beelzebub chief of the demons.” And knowing their minds, He said to them, “Every desolate kingdom is divided against itself, and every desolate city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

I don’t know about you, but The Three Little Pigs, comes to mind. A small wind can blow down the house made of straw, while the wolf lurks near the weakest link. We don’t need the voice of Brothers Grimm to point out the obvious – those without the armor of God are doomed for peril, or at least a hefty Home Depot bill.

The Pharisees tried to align Jesus with the devil, like they were in cahoots, a simple discrediting tactic. But in Baryshnikov fashion, always on His toes with a riveting retort: homes, cities and kingdoms without the Lord won’t stand for long. Honestly, a home without the Lord doesn’t need any help from demolishing demons; they’re doing a first-rate job of self-destruction all by themselves.

The crazier question, why is everyone so surprised and shocked when the last timber falls to the ground; hands over both cheeks, wide-eyed and mouth a-gape…Oh, no, Mr. Bill! When the reality is, we all saw that house falling a mile and a half away. A desolate house will not stand.

Homes and families not built upon the Rock are doomed.

Doomed for what, you might ask? Well, misery, at best; broken and divorced at the worst. The very worst looks more like Abominable Snowman stuff, crimes of passion and the murder of the adulterer. Gracious.

How about the average, church-attending bear? Simple pride and ego will give that bear a run for its money: “In this corner, weighing in at 140 lbs., Malignant Mrs.! In this corner, weighing in at 200 lbs. Monstrous Mr.! That match is called Corner-Fighting.

Corner-fighting can collapse any home; happens all the time.

Seven shades of anger doesn’t always end up in divorce, but then again, it sure can throw a bucket of cold water over the happily ever after.
