Caution: Curve Ahead
Matthew 13:32 …which is the smallest of all the seed, but in the case of it grew to a greater degree than are the garden herbs and became a tree, so that birds of the air came and settled in its branches.
Almost like a fairy tale, too good to be true, but it isn’t, because it’s true. You just have to know how. Spirit-frit, aka, the character of Christ (generous concern, joy, peace, clemency, virtue, goodness, benevolence, faithfulness, and self-restraint) is like a mustard seed, planted in a confessor of Jesus and His salvific crucifixion at the time of the watery-grave immersion. In its most infinitesimal state, like the mustard seed – smallest of all seeds – spirit-fruit must be produced, which can start out in very small quantities.
LEARING about the Twenty Commands - that which promotes spirit-fruit production – and the EXECUTION of said commands, are as far as the east is from the west. The learning curve is colossally ginormous. When accepting the Twenty Commands as the new rule of life, fighting the corners of pride and ego is a normative way of life which comes to a screeching halt like conveyor belts in a foreclosed factory; at least, that is supposed to be what happens. Hence, the learning curve. The pain of pride shedding, flesh-ripping heart-circumcision is necessary, but a big pill to swallow.
The one who claims to dwell in Him is indebted to walk just as He walked, indeed, but if that walk doesn’t come with a serious learning curve, then nothing does. The commitment to live by the Truth of God’s word rather than just learning about that Truth should come with a covenant signed in blood, but it doesn’t. We just work on the honor system. If we had to sign a covenant in blood to stop studying God’s word and start being obedient to the requirements in God’s word, we might get further in that journey to the center of Christ’s Humility.
There must be a patent on the Humility of Jesus hidden somewhere, because if anybody could ever learn how to manufacture it and deliver it to the masses, they would make millions. But such is not the case. Everyone gets their own agonizing narrow gate to train in Humility, the gymnasium built for just that purpose. After all, Paul did say to take the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5), who emptied Himself to become nothing, and He did that on purpose. The would-be fruit-producers who are serious about spirituality learn that as Humility increases, more spirit-fruit gets produced.
Jesus modeled the pattern for the rest of us to imitate when He allowed Himself to be arrested and gave up His right to be right. Imitating that behavior can take a mustard seed and turn it into a bird-perching Oak. You just have to learn how.
